Little Wheel Wisdom: Old Hardware Matters

You cannot recreate or remake these! New hardware is expensive and won’t last 120 years like these do.

CLEANING TIP: If you want to clean them up, stick the pieces in a crockpot for 8 hours on LOW with a little dish soap. Make sure to use a crockpot liner - makes clean up easier. Pull them out and take a light scrubber or a soft toothbrush to get the dirt out of the cracks… and they should shine right up. If you’re worried about oxidation afterwards, we have sprayed polyurathane on them in the past. We haven’t determined if it is necessary - all of the hardware we have cleaned yet haven’t sprayed still looks like a million bucks a few years later.
